DESCRIPTION:
VIEW A - Box Pleat Valance with Band is fully lined and features from two to seven box pleat sections depending upon window width. A coordinating fabric band is stitched to bottom of valance and decorative trim hides this seam. An optional piping strip can be added to the top edge. You may have a choice in the number and width of each box pleat section your valance features, depending upon your window width. Box pleat sections range in width from 13" to 22" (32.5 to 55cm). The finished depth of the valance is 16" (40cm). This valance can be made for window widths 26" to 132" (65´330cm) and is easily stapled to a 1" × 4" (2.5cm × 10cm) pine mounting board.
VIEW B - Center Pleat Valance is fully lined and features one center pleat and two side pleats. Decorative trim is placed 3" (7.5cm) above the bottom edge. An optional piping strip can be added to the top edge. The center depth is 14" (35cm) and the side length is 20" (50cm). This valance can be made for window widths 30" to 56" (75–140cm) and is easily stapled to a 1" × 4" (2.5cm × 10cm) pine mounting board.
VIEW C - Scallop Pleat Valance is fully lined and features from two to seven scallop sections depending upon window width. Decorative trim is applied to the bottom edge and an optional piping strip can be added to the top edge. You may have a choice in the number and width of each scallop section your valance features, depending upon your window width. Scallop sections range in width from 15" to 22" (37.5 to 55cm). The long point of each scallop is 16" (40cm) and the short point is 13" (32.5cm). This valance can be made for window widths 30" to 132" (75–330cm) and is easily stapled to a 1" × 4" (2.5cm × 10cm) pine mounting board.
VIEW C - Side Panels are stationary and provide a decorative touch at the sides of your window. The fully lined panels feature a rod pocket for a 1" (2.5cm) wide curtain rod that is mounted beneath the valance. Panels can be made in three lengths - floor length, breaking on the floor or puddled.
VIEW D - Scallop Trumpet Valance is the same as VIEW C except the pleats are “poufed” to form Trumpets and the entire valance is lined in a coordinating fabric.
SUGGESTED FABRICS:
ALL VIEWS: Silk-like polyester fabrics, mid-weight decorator fabrics such as cottons, linens, cotton blends, jacquards, or other similar weaves work well. Lightweight blend fabrics can also be used. NOTE: Silk fabrics are prone to sun damage and require interlining. Interlining instructions are not included in this pattern.
VIEW A: Purchase a coordinating fabric for band.
SUGGESTED LINING:
VIEWS A, B or C: Select a white or off-white drapery lining fabric. Sun resistant or water resistant linings are recommended.
VIEW D: Valance is entirely lined in a coordinating fabric. We suggest selecting a solid fabric as prints may show through the front of the valance in sunny windows.
PURCHASE LINING SAME WIDTH AS FACE FABRIC, IF AVAILABLE.
